SAFE SHOPPING GUARANTEE
Thanks to PayPal and all of the measures taken to protect your information, every transaction that you make on thebanningmuseum.org will be 100% safe. You're safer shopping online with The Banning Museum than you are using your credit card at the mall... and you don't have to leave home. Visit here to read PayPal's Security Statement.
THE BANNING MUSEUM IS PAYPAL VERIFIED - WHAT THIS MEANS
To become verified, a PayPal member must provide proof that he or she has opened an account at a bank or other financial institution. These institutions are required by law to screen all account holders, therefore PayPal's verification process increases security when you pay parties that you do not know.
HOW DO WE DO IT?
First, we abide by a thorough Privacy Policy that outlines the information that we receive and how it is managed. Second, PayPal places any sensitive data behind a total shield of security that ensures its safety. For example, when you enter any secure area from our site that involves the transfer of sensitive data like credit card numbers, you will notice an alert that appears on your screen.
This box tells you that you're entering a safe area of PayPal. This is where you transmit data across a secure connection, meaning your information is being encrypted in a way that meets or exceeds industry standards. This feature is safe and will not even allow YOU to proceed unless your browser is able to operate in conjunction with the secure connection.
WHAT MAKES A SECURE CONNECTION SO SAFE?
The most important way to keep your information protected is through the use of encryption. We do this with the protocol known as Secure Socket Layer or SSL technology. It works with your browser by encrypting the data prior to being transmitted in a way that prevents unauthorized access.
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU'VE GOT A SECURE CONNECTION?
There are a couple of easy ways to tell if you are in a secure area. If you look in the lower frame of your browser, you will see little symbols. A complete key or closed lock means it is secure. A broken key or open lock means you are in normal (insecure) mode. Another way is to check the URL. If the address to the left of the colon changes from "http" to "https" then you are on a secure connection.
